Buildr Privacy Policy
Effective 28 October 2026
This policy explains how the Buildr iPhone app (“Buildr”) and the Buildr waitlist on our website handle your information. Buildr is made by Apex Concepts LLC (“we”, “us”), a Pennsylvania limited liability company.
The short version
- Your food diary, workouts and weigh-ins are stored on your iPhone and backed up privately to your Buildr account, so you can restore them on another iPhone.
- A few features send a photo or a short piece of text to our server so it can be analysed. We don’t keep it after answering.
- Subscriptions are bought through Apple. Our subscription provider, Superwall, receives purchase and paywall information so the app knows whether you have Buildr Pro.
- Apple Health data never leaves your iPhone through Buildr.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports help us improve the app. They never include your food, photos or account, and you can turn them off.
- If you join the Buildr waitlist on our website, our email provider Kit keeps your email address so we can tell you when Buildr launches. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- No advertising, no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
Information you enter
- Your profile: sex, date of birth, height, weight, goal weight and pace, training details, the answers you give during setup, and your units and preferences.
- Your diary: foods, meals, water, workouts and weigh-ins, with their times.
- Optional details: a name, profile photo, saved foods and meals, and reminder times.
All of this is stored in Buildr’s private storage on your iPhone, which is included in your iPhone’s own backups (iCloud or computer). While you’re signed in, a copy is also kept in your Buildr account’s backup (see below).
Your account and backup
To use Buildr you sign in with Apple, Google or your email address. Our account service, run by our hosting provider Supabase, keeps your account: an identifier, your email address, how you signed in and when. With Sign in with Apple, the email address can be a private one that Apple forwards. Google also shares your name, and Apple may share it the first time. Buildr only uses your name to fill in your profile name if it is empty. When you sign in with email, our email provider Resend sends you sign-in codes, and nothing else.
While you’re signed in, Buildr backs up everything listed under “Information you enter”, including meal and profile photos. The backup goes to private storage for your account on Supabase’s servers. Only your account can read it, and we use it only to restore your data when you sign in. Each backup replaces the previous one, and the photos of deleted meals are removed.
What is sent to our server
These features need our server, which passes the request to OpenAI for analysis and to the USDA FoodData Central database for nutrition values.
- Scanning a meal photo or a nutrition label: the photo you take, plus any note you add.
- Voice Log and “Generate results using AI”: the text of your description. Apple turns speech into text first; see Speech below.
- Describing a workout: the text and your current weight, used to estimate calories.
- Searching foods: the words you search for.
Our server doesn’t store these photos or texts after answering. It keeps short technical logs (the time, which feature was used, whether it worked, and a one-way coded device identifier) for a limited time, to keep the service running and to stop abuse. OpenAI processes the content under its API data policies, which allow it to keep API data for up to 30 days to detect abuse. OpenAI doesn’t use it to train its models.
Barcodes
When you scan a barcode, your iPhone asks the free Open Food Facts database about that barcode number directly. Only the number is sent.
Speech
Voice Log uses Apple’s speech recognition to turn what you say into text. Apple may process the audio on your iPhone or on its servers under Apple’s privacy policy. Buildr doesn’t record or keep the audio.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Buildr saves the food, water, workout energy and weigh-ins you log to Health. It also reads steps, workouts and weight from Health to count calories burned. You choose exactly what Buildr may read and write in the Health app.
Health data read by Buildr stays on your iPhone. It is never sent to our server, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared.
Subscriptions and purchases
Buildr Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store, and Apple takes the payment. We never see your card or payment details.
We use Superwall to show the subscription screen and to check whether your subscription is active. To do that, Superwall receives:
- an ID created by the app, which becomes your Buildr account ID once you sign in;
- basic device information: model, iOS version, language, region and app version;
- how you use the subscription screen, such as which plan you pick;
- purchase details from Apple: the plan, dates, trial and renewal status, price and country.
Superwall processes this for us as a service provider. It doesn’t use it for advertising. If you enter an offer code, Apple handles the redemption, and the code is shared with Superwall so your subscription is recognised.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To learn which parts of Buildr work well, where people get stuck and when the app breaks, Buildr sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to PostHog, our analytics provider in the United States. PostHog receives:
- a random ID that the app creates on your iPhone. It isn’t your Buildr account ID, we never connect the two, and a new one is made when you sign out;
- a short record of main steps: opening the app, each setup screen, signing in (and whether with Apple, Google or email), seeing the subscription screen, starting a trial or subscription, logging your first food, and whether a meal photo, Voice Log or label scan worked and how long it took;
- any offer code you entered during setup, so we can tell which campaign brought you;
- basic device information: model, iOS version, language, time zone, screen size, whether you’re on Wi-Fi or mobile data, and app version;
- crash reports and error codes: technical details of what went wrong in the app.
PostHog never receives your food names, descriptions, photos, nutrition values, body or health details, name or email address. We’ve set PostHog not to work out your location from your internet address and not to keep that address. PostHog processes this for us as a service provider, keeps it for up to a year, and doesn’t use it for advertising. Because it isn’t connected to your account, we can’t look it up or delete it for one person; turning it off stops it.
You can turn this off at any time in Profile › Preferences › Share usage statistics.
Notifications
Meal and protein reminders are scheduled on your iPhone, and no reminder information is sent anywhere. If you start a free trial, a reminder before it ends is also scheduled on your iPhone.
The Buildr waitlist
Before Buildr is on the App Store, you can join its waitlist on our website (apexconceptsllc.org/buildr). The waitlist is separate from the app: joining doesn’t create a Buildr account, and the app never receives your waitlist address.
- What we collect: the email address you enter and when you joined.
- Why: to tell you when Buildr is available on the App Store, with at most a few emails about the launch. We don’t use your address for anything else, and we never sell or share it.
- Who handles it: our email provider, Kit, keeps the list and sends these emails for us from the United States. Like most email services, Kit records technical details such as your internet address when you join, and whether an email was opened or a link in it was clicked. Kit processes this for us as a service provider.
- Unsubscribing and deletion: every email has an unsubscribe link. To have your address removed from the list altogether, email us and we’ll delete it.
- How long: we keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
The waitlist page itself sets no cookies and uses no trackers.
What we don’t do
Buildr shows no ads and contains no advertising trackers. We don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t build a profile of you for anyone else. We use your account’s email address only to sign you in, and we never send it marketing emails. If you join the waitlist, we email that address only about Buildr’s launch.
Your choices
- Export: Profile › Export My Data gives you a copy of everything you logged.
- Delete: Profile › Delete Account deletes your Buildr account and its backup from our servers, and everything Buildr stored on your iPhone. Data already saved to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel Buildr Pro; cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
- Logout: Buildr backs up your data, then removes it from your iPhone until you sign in again.
- Usage statistics: turn off Profile › Preferences › Share usage statistics to stop usage statistics and crash reports.
- Permissions: you can turn off camera, microphone, speech recognition and notifications in the Settings app at any time. Health access is managed in the Health app.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
- Waitlist: unsubscribe from any waitlist email, or email us to have your address deleted.
For any other request about your information, including a copy of what your account holds, email us and we will help.
Children
Buildr isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how Buildr handles your information, we will update this page and its date. We will tell you in the app about significant changes before they apply.
